Benchmarking Energy Usage - What to Bring
and Requirements
Facility data collection, profiling & benchmarking; analyzing building
energy use; initial screening for opportunities & modeling building
performance. Hospitals, municipalities, state and private building
owners will be able to use this tool as well.
Basic Building Information Needed:
School address and ZIP Code
Year Built
Gross square footage of school building
Weekly operating hours
Number of months in operation
Number of students
Number of personal computers
Precense of cooking facility (yes/no)
Presence of mechanical ventilation (yes/no)
Percentage of the facility space that is heated
Percentage of the facility space that is air-conditioned
Monthly energy consumption and utility costs (bring copy of actual
bill - heating, electricity, water, etc.) Eligibiilty Requirements for Benchmarking:
Must have been occupied for at least 9 of the past
12 months
Must
have at least 50% of its gross square footage designated for
primary (K-12) space and no more than 10% of its
gross square footage
Total building size must be at least 5,000 square feet
Contains only eligible primary (k-12) and secondary space types
(computer data center, pool, parking garage, and parking lot). Other
types of buildings will be using Business rather than Education
to input
information.
Occupied and in use at least 35 hours per week
All entered energy consumption data (for each meter) cover
a period of 365 +/- 45 days
