Throughout the class students will be trained on many of the aspects
required for running a business and developing a business plan.
Each day students will apply what they have learned and at the
end of the week compete as teams while running lemonade stands.
Think a lemonade stand isn't appropriate? Donald Trump doesn't!
NBC aired "The Apprentice" spring 2004. 16 applicants
compete to work as an apprentice for Donald Trump for one year
at an executive level position with an income of $250,000.00 a
year. Their first task? A LEMONADE STAND!
Wyoming faces
many challenges as it focuses on economic development. CANDO
Camps meet three such challenges head on, by:
-
Providing
a strong reason for youth to stay in Wyoming;
-
Instilling
the spirit of entrepreneurship in Wyoming’s youth;
and
-
Developing
the business planning skills needed for new business generation.
This summer,
CANDO will provide a week-long summer training. Participants
will begin Sunday night and
end with a presentation Friday evening.
We forged many state partnerships
over the past years,
including: Wyoming School-to-Careers, Wyoming 4-H, Wyoming
Small Business Development Centers, Wyoming Business Council, MW, Converse
County School District #1,
Wyoming Community Network and many more. We are actively seeking sponsors to
assist again the year.
Applicants
must submit a completed application and a letter of recommendation
from someone
other than a family member two weeks prior to the beginning of
camp .
The training
uses curriculum developed specifically for youth. Guest
speakers from a variety of industries will be
speaking to teach and inspire the students. The training will focus on
intensive business plan training. If every trainee takes this concept
home with them, along with the model business plan they will
develop at camp, it
is
believed that similar efforts will be started in several more communities in
the state.
CANDO is seeking partners and financing to offset
camp expenses. As you can see, CANDO The Apprentice (Youth Business Training
Competition) has great potential for Wyoming! If you are interested
in discussing this
further

please
