Education
Converse County School District provides quality education from four schools across the community — Douglas Primary, Douglas Intermediate, Douglas Middle School and Douglas High School. From athletics to extracurricular activities like participation on the speech team, Douglas schools provide
area students a tremendous level of opportunity and room to grow.
Post secondary education is available in the Douglas community via the local Eastern Wyoming College campus. From workforce development to adult learning, the college is a tremendous resource to Douglas and its residents.

From the mountains on the southern skyline to the sprawling Thunder Basin National Grassland to the north, outdoor enthusiasts are sure to love the Douglas area. Swing by the local U.S. Forest Service office at 2250 East Richards Street in Douglas for maps on accessing the thousands of acres of public land in this area.Just a short drive down the interstate, Glendo Reservoir and the associated Glendo State Park, offer abundant fishing, camping and water recreation opportunities. Whether you’re fishing for walleye or roasting marshmallows over the campfire, you’re sure to enjoy Glendo Reservoir!

Youth Activities
Area youth are encouraged to participate in a wealth of activities offered via the Douglas Recreation Center. Located adjacent to the high school on Hamilton Street, the Recreation Center includes two gymnasiums and a swimming pool. In addition to serving as the local venue for many school-sanctioned sporting events, the rec center offers ice-skating lessons, co-ed volleyball, basketball, soccer, softball and more.During the summer months area youth enjoy the outstanding facilities at the local swimming pool, located within the community’s city park. Two towering slides added a new level of fun and excitement to the pool!
Shopping, Dining & Entertainment
Main Street Douglas, a growing group of local merchants is bringing a growing level of activity to downtown Douglas. The area’s historic buildings are home to restaurants, bookstores, boutiques and flower shops. It’s a great place to spend a free moment or an entire afternoon! From a summertime car show and street dance to a chili cook-off in the fall, several activities take place in the downtown area.
